Program Design

  • Extensive individual evaluations are given first to determine individual goals for accent modification, severity of accent (including pronunciation, speech intonation/ rhythm, voice projection), English proficiency, and time frame in which language objectives are to be achieved.
  • Based upon the results of the evaluation, we will recommend a training program to address any or all of the following problem areas: pronunciation, listening comprehension, vocabulary, intonation, resonance, vocal intensity, and grammar.
  • Instruction will commence in either individual sessions or small group (maximum of 5 participants) classes. The number of sessions needed to complete the program will be determined from the results of the initial evaluation. Age is no barrier to success in this program.
  • Session length will be 1-1½ hours. The average number of sessions for individual, one-on-one sessions is 10, whereas the average number of sessions for small groups is 13.
  • Cost of the program will vary based on the results of the individual evaluation, which will determine the # sessions needed to modify the foreign accent. Small group instruction is less expensive than one-on-one, individual instruction.
